Three people, two offices, and work that usually ships under another name.
Velvict was registered on . We are a software company in the plainest sense of the phrase: people who write and run software for other people's businesses, and who are still there in the second year.
01 / How it started
It started with an invoice, not a manifesto.
Amel registered the company on and put his own name on the paperwork. There is no garage in this story and no moment of vision. There was work that needed doing properly, and a preference for doing it under a name we would have to live with.
Amel had been building and running production systems for more than ten years before that date.
Zenica came first because that is where we are. The Sarajevo desk is inside AESC’s office, which is the company whose work is on the home page and one Amel part-owns. It is about an hour away, we work from it whenever Sarajevo is where the week is happening, and the footer says whose address it is.
02 / The three of us
Three of us work on your project. There is no bench.
Four cards, three people. The fourth is Amel's son: the only joke on this page, in none of its figures, and not in the structured data behind it either.
Amel Spahić
Founder
Writes code, reads contracts, and is the one who says no on the first call, which is the part of the job nobody applies for. Has worked on every project the company has taken.
Lejla Hasanić-Spahić
Software Tester
Breaks it before your users do. Everything goes through her, including the one-line changes. Especially the one-line changes.
Osman Hasanić
Data Scientist
Handles the data: pipelines, models, and the part where we work out whether a model is genuinely better than a sorted list. Often it is not, and that is a useful thing to find out early instead of after it is wired into six screens.
Besim Spahić
Main Distraction
Amel's son. Has never written a line of code. Interrupts calls. He is not staff and he is counted in nothing — not the headcount, not the readout on the homepage, not the data this page hands a crawler. The job title is the only joke on this page and we are keeping it.
03 / What we will and will not do
Three things we will be held to.
01
We say no on the first call if it is a no.
A booked project we cannot do well is worse for us than an empty week.
02
You get the code, the credentials and three written documents, and we will sit on a call while you deploy it yourself once.
If you cannot run it without us, we have not finished.
03
We take a small number of projects at a time.
When we are full we give you a date instead of a slower start.
Two notes
Two picked out of the archive rather than the two most recent: getting a .NET 6 service deployed, and keeping its data alive when the container it ran in goes away.
Bind mounts against named volumes for MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB and MongoDB containers, with the docker run flags and a Compose file.
Zenica and Sarajevo. Central European Time.
CET is your clock if you are in Berlin, and the first two hours of your morning if you are in New York. That is most of what a client in either place actually needs to know. Both addresses are at the bottom of every page and both are real rooms. If you are landing in Sarajevo, say when.
